"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion"- Ethiopian Proverb
I went to a business management class last night at ASU's
W.P. Carey School of Business.
We talked about teamwork in a way that I have never thought about.
It inspired, me. It added to my vision of The Shine Project.
And I hope it will do the same for you.
What IS a team?
A group of people who work INTENSELY with one another
to achieve a specific common goal.
There are a few key reasons why working together, as a team,
is so important.
1- It creates enhanced performance
2- Improves creativity
3- Enhances diversity
WHY am I so inspired by this?!
THIS IS MY VISION FOR THE SHINE PROJECT.
To work as a TEAM, to improve our lives,
and the lives of those around us.
There was a study done, to represent the population of the WORLD,
if it were condensed into a village of 100 people.
A few of the statistics would be:
67 people would be unable to read.
50 would be suffering from malnutrition
1 would have a college education
(you can read the other statistics HERE)
Doesn't this make you want to act?
Who will change this, if we don't come together, and support each other?
WHO WILL CHANGE THIS, IF WE BRING EACH OTHER DOWN.
That includes bringing down ourselves.
I have so much more I want to say...but will wait so we can soak this up first.
What I want from you, is to tell me how The Shine Project
can make you feel like you're a part of a TEAM.
A team that has POWER to change people's lives.
Starting with your own.

I'm a proud member of The Shine Project team! You're amazing, Ashley! Keep shining!
I would love to be a vital member of the team. the moer I read and talk to you on twitter, the more I feel like I need to be proactive and part of The Shine Project.
Not only is it important to help other's shine, but to establish reasons and inspiration we need to shine. What better way than together. A light are brightest in the darkness, several lights together sends it away.
Hopefully, you know what I mean :D.
what you are doing here is definitely very inspiring. I need to start doing the Shine Challenges, because I think you are doing something that a lot of people only talk about (myself included).
Can't wait to watch your Vlog!

I for sure want to be apart of the Shine team! I LOVE your blog and can't wait to do the Shine Projects. Love talking to you on Twitter. I am just really excited!
Ashley - just your motivational posts full of excitement and what's to come for you - make me feel like a part of team. Not to mention - I wear my shine necklace as a daily reminder. IT's come in handy when sitting in the ER and the countless doctor's offices lately - that amidst all of the physical suffering i am personally dealing with - i never forget to shine. THAT right there sister - is TEAM WORK in action. You make me want to be a better me. So if there is EVER An opporuntity for you to put together a street team of fellow chics shinin on - count me in!!!
Yes, sign me up! Let's go team, SHINE!!!
how motivational and enlightening! as an education major my professors always promote group work. it works outside of school, too. it is one of the best ways to accomplish something, when each person contributes equally.
Wow! That is so enlightening. As much as I don't like group projects, I know that when a group comes together and shares the load evenly, amazing things can happen! You are awesome and motivate me to shine! Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

This is great and quite in line with a post I'll be sharing this weekend. It's about a non-profit organization called "Feed My Starving Children". I volunteered to pack meals for hungry children last weekend and it was amazing. Eye-opening really.
One person CAN make a difference, but as a TEAM? Look out! :)
Sophisticated Steps
LOVE this! Happy to do my part and promote SHINE on blog, RT on Twitter, share on FB, and wear my necklace and make others ask where I got it!!
Being a new part of the blogging family (team) has inspired me to take the path in my life that I'm most afraid of but I know will make me the most happy.
I've been going to school forever, spending money but knowing that I'm not working toward something that makes me feel good. But ever since I joined the blogging team I feel empowered because everyone here follows their dreams.
Because of the wonderful people I know now just through a computer screen, I am going to start my etsy shop, submit my children's books to publishers and stop KILLING myself and spending my $$ working toward degrees that aren't me.
Thank you bloggers. I love you all.
How weird, I just read those stats somewhere else?? But for the life of me, can't remember where! LOL... Peace Corps service was such a wonderful experience not only because of the group I served with and the work we were doing, but also because of the legacy we were contributing to and also creating for ourselves! I think you have a fine start to your own spectacular legacy and look forward to helping you achieve your dreams... which fit so nicely with my own....
OHMYGOSH! I love that denim dress! Oh, so much!
Great post, Ashley! I definitely think being a team can move mountains more than just one person!

Happy weekend doll!

Definitely something to think about. Those stats representing the world are scary. There are far too many people out there who need the help of others.
I definitely miss feeling like part of a team. Teamwork is sooo important in life!

I started reading your blog from the beginning and it has been incredible to watch you grow and be featured on so many "big time" blogs and in the newspaper! Loved this post, Ashley! How can we be a team? Well, to be honest dear, you are one of those bloggers bringing people together, acting as a team! Setting goals for each other and fulfilling them together is teamwork, no? Support and encouragement is key! xo
I love the list of "If the world was a village of 100 people." I've seen it before, very thought-provoking and inspiring...thanks for sharing a link of it!
