This past weekend my family went to an orphanage in Rocky Pointe, Mexico. The youth group that I help with at my church made blankets for the kids there. As you can see, they absolutely loved them. I kept seeing little legs run by covered in blankets after we handed them out. We took them a lot of candy, and they swarmed us for it! One of the only English phrases they could speak was "THANK YOU!" so they kept screaming it and giggling. Luckily my husband speaks fluent spanish so we could communicate with them. Something so simple brought them so much happiness, and I was humbled. There are 45 kids there, and the 2 couples that take care of them ARE VOLUNTEERS. Talk about angels on Earth. This orphanage runs off of donations, and the kids live by strict rules that keep them out of trouble. The place is spotless, and they all look after eachother. I'm grateful for these opportunities. For these learning experiences that give me more love, compassion, and motivation to make a difference.
