A Compliment a Day, Keeps the Low Confidence AWAY!

Photobucket

Photobucket

It's a new week!

Which means...

A NEW SHINE CHALLENGE!

I am thinking that instead of having you send me your challenges,

that we will link up what we all do so everyone can be featured?!

Let me know what you think about that!

I want you to think about the last time someone gave you a sincere compliment.

Whether it was someone you didn't know who told you they liked your shoes,

a neighbor who thanked you for the things you do for them, or a friend who noticed how hard you are working.

Think about how you felt,

and how it gave you motivation to keep going strong.

For some reason, getting compliments makes us HAPPY,

and reminds us that we're not so bad after all! :)

This week, our challenge is to GIVE A COMPLIMENT A DAY

to someone we come in contact with.

As we sincerely think about positive attributes of others, we can brighten their days by voicing those things

that we appreciate about them

Let's see how many smiles we can bring this week!

And please,

fill me in on how to do a link up party :)

ps: sorry for the annoying double spacing. Blogger is going crazy on me today!

I completely agree. I am always so nervous (as I am my own worst critic) that my customers won't like something custom I've done for them, but every time they smile and get excited to receive their products I get a huge boost of motivation and confidence to keep going. Giving is getting so paying those sincere compliments can be just as productive as getting one!

I am a new follower and love the whole concept of your SHINE project...I am in on this challenge! It is amazing how people will remember how you made them feel with a simple compliment. Oh yes indeed, I am in on this one!!! Let me know when you get the linky ready! Are you thinking one post at the end of the week or daily?

Ashley said...

One post at the end of the week! But I need someone to tell me how to do a linky party first :)

I say all the time that everyone deserves one sincere compliment a day.
I actually gave one yesterday, and honestly it makes me feel better too.

In love with this challenge... I love it almost as much as I love you (in a completely not weird kinda way.. swear ; )

Last week I wore a shirt and leggings... leggings are hard to feel confident in. Two people stopped and gave me compliments. I wanted to hug them!

I am new to your blog and the SHINE thing - but your inspiration is contagious, so I subscribed!

Totally agree about compliments. Literally, can make someone's day, or week, or year, or forever! Thanks for spreading the sunshine:-) xoxo

Your dress is super cute! And love the necklace you paired with it! And, I totally want in on this week's challenge.
I think you might be able to add us as authors on the blog, and have us all edit a post. That's the only way I can think of to do it, but that might not be the easiest way.

I got the best compliment today that completely changed the rest of my morning! I even had to send up a bit of Thanks.

I just started using inlinkz. You can see it on my blog (http://www.littleandalucia.com). It is easy to set up and if you only have us link with text then it is free.

simply-linked.com is super easy and clean and most of all, free. but i think linkytools.com has the best linkys of all :)) hope that helps. and as i sit and think of it.. my last compliment, probably my last 100 compliments, were from my hubby. i wish i could pull off a dress like your cute one in those pictures.. maybe i'd get a lot more! haha

YAY! I already challenge myself to do this -- especially since I work with teenagers. :) :)
BUT I do have to share that I have recently challenged them to try and make a positive and honest comment to someone on Facebook -- a place where A LOT of teenage bullying goes on -- sometime in the next week.
I hope it goes well!

Good timing on the challenge :) I actually e-mailed an old elementary school teacher of mine today to tell her how much she has affected my life still to this day. Later in the day I got an e-mail back. I was quite surprised she had responded so fast. She explained to me that she had an awful day in the school world and my e-mail reminded why she taught in the first place. Plus, compliments keep us all going. They are always nice to hear. P.S. I think I wore the Shine necklace wrong on yesterday. Bye Bye Jayhawks. I love the challenges. We all need to challenge ourselves to be better people :).

I like this! I feel so much better about myself when I look for the good in others. Sometimes it's really hard, what with difficult in-laws and what not, but it's the best way to live!

Lori said...

I'm in and I have been working on this for a few weeks. I'm trying to find good things in my employees daily. It helps me do that with others. I still have a LONG way to go. Thank you for your challenges.

I think my favorite compliments are from my 3 little children. Seriously, when your 6 year old son tells you "You look pretty, Mommy."...be still my heart. You just melt.

As long as the compliment is sincere, yes, say it! I completely agree that you can help change someone's outlook on their whole day...who knows, maybe their life by a few simple words. In the same way, you can easily rip them apart. We have to be so careful. There is great power in the tongue!

Great post.

Found you on LMM and am so excited to hear about this wonderful site. Great ideas and what a wonderful positive thing you are doing.

Delia said...

Hey Ashley. I found you through LMM. I got clicking around your site and saw a picture of you with your husband...and then saw that your last name is Lemieux. And I actually went to high school with a boy named Mike Lemieux that looks an awful lot like your husband. And I'm from Tempe. This might be a stretch...but could you perhaps be married to a Mike who has an older brother named Chris?

Just curious. I love the concept of your blog and wish you the best of luck in your incredibly inspiring endeavor.

Thanks for the challenge and the reminder of how the simplest of things make the biggest difference.
Try InLinkz to easily set up a link party on your post. Text links are free, and they have a free trial with thumbnails so that you can check it out. The regular fee is not bad, either, if you decide you like it. www.inlinkz.com

I found your blog via LMM and I have to say...you. are. brilliant.

I have been facing so much negativity with my job (I'm a teacher) lately and it's been seeping into me so much that my DREAMS have been negative. Reading your blog this morning (more like consuming your blog...) has helped me feel better. I'm a late joiner but I will be participating in the Shine project!

Thanks for being so awesome and creative.

@Delia: YES! That is exactly who my husband is! ha! Such a small little World!
